Benefits of Solomon's Seal Rhizome (Yu Zhu)


Properties: The herb is sweet in flavour, neutral in nature and acts on the lung and stomach channels. Being sweet, neutral and moist in quality, the herb is good at nourishing Yin of the lung and stomach to promote the generation of the body fluid and moisten dryness. To treat impairment of Yin of the lung and stomach with symptoms of dry cough and thirst, the herb is often used in combination with straight ladybell root for synergistic effects. Being sweet, neutral and not greasy, without the shortcoming of astringing pathogens, fragrant solomonseal rhizome is often rhizome is often used to treat deficiency of Yin affected by exopathogens.
Effects: Nourishing Yin to moisten the lung and promoting the generation of the body fluid to quench thirst.
Indications:
1. To treat impairment of the lung due to dry heat with symptoms of dry cough with little sputum, the herb is often used in combination with straight ladybell root, ophiopogon root, dried rehmannia root and other herbs for nourishing Yin to clear heat from the lung.
2. To treat consumption of the body fluid caused by febrile disease with symptoms of vexation, thirst and dry mouth and tongue, the herb is often used in combination with straight ladybell root, ophiopogon root and other herbs for promoting the generation of the body fluid to quench thirst.
3. To treat Yin deficiency, wind-heat due to exopathogens, headache and excessive thirst, the herb is often used in combination with peppermint, fermented soybean and other herbs for nourishing Yin to relieve exterior syndrome, and strengthening the body resistance to elininate pathogenic factors.
Dosage and Administration: 10-20g.
